Volunteer
Healdsburg District Hospital Volunteers is a
dedicated group
that cares deeply about the state of the hospital and is
doing something to improve healthcare in our north county.
They give water and nourishment to patients, take them to
their rooms, discharge them, and do general go-for work like
running errands to help out the hospital staff. Additionally,
they run the gift shop where any money earned goes toward
scholarships for students in the medical field. If you'd like
to
make a difference, they'd love to help you do it. Volunteers
are assigned four-hour shifts, after completing a four-day
training. Find out more by calling the hospital's main number,
431-6500.
Help Raise Funds
The Northern Sonoma Healthcare Foundation
(NSHF) is an
organization with a mission to raise capital funds for
healthcare providers and services located in Northern
Sonoma County (including Windsor, Healdsburg, Geyserville, and
Cloverdale). Their
current goal is to raise $3,000,000 for local capital needs,
which include $1,000,000
for Alliance to help pay for building a new facility adjacent
to HDH, and $1,600,000 for Healdsburg District Hospital to
cover the capital costs of renovating the Emergency
Room and the Occupational Medicine area.
One of the ways the Foundation raises money is through
its annual three-day Vines &
Wines event. This past October's occasion was a resounding success. The
Vines
& Wines
2006 event dates will be posted when they are available. For additional
information,
please call Lynda Guthrie, Executive Director, at the Foundation office

Give Blood
You will rarely do something as satisfying, as easy, and
as helpful as giving blood. It
takes less than an hour, yet that hour could give someone else another
chance at life.
The Blood Bank of the
Redwoods accepts donors at their facility on 2324 Bethards
Drive
in Santa Rosa. Their mobile donor coach makes scheduled stops
in Healdsburg and
surrounding communities.
Call their Santa Rosa office at (707) 545-1222 or visit their
website
at www.bbr.org.
